If your puppy refuses to take Nutrical, you can replace it with Real Maple Syrup. Make sure it’s 100% pure natural maple syrup and not table syrup or any other type of syrup. You can add half a teaspoon in the water of your puppy.

PUPPY CARE

PICK UP FROM THE AIRPORT

Before leaving for the airport to meet your new four legged best friend you need to bring with you:

  • Royal Canin XS dry puppy food

  • Nutrical

  • Blanket

  • Transporter or carrier for the car ride

  • Cleaning wipes

  • Bottled water

  • Slow feeder bowl

First, you have to feed the puppy right away with 2 teaspoons of Royal Canin XS dry puppy food or the mousse if the puppy refuses to eat the dry food. You can also hydrate the dry food with bottled water. Second step is to give the puppy about 1/4 teaspoon of Nutrical, if the puppy doesn’t want to lick it directly you can put it on the side of  it’s mouth and rub it on the gums. Nutrical is a supplement paste that is excellent for teacup puppies and helps to control their blood sugar levels. Third step is to reassure the puppy, give plenty of hugs and kisses and finally, let the puppy pee/poop before taking it to the car.

CAR RIDE

Once in the car, keep a training pad inside the carrier and attach it to the backseat  and supervise until you arrive home.

HOME ARRIVAL

Now that the puppy has arrived to its forever home, make sure to carefully deposit the carrier on the floor before opening it. The puppy will be so excited to be with it’s new family, you don’t want your puppy to fall from a high surface! Now the puppy can get used to it’s new environment and surroundings and make sure to introduce it quickly to it’s playpen. Keep the food and the training pads far away, change them regularly. Have a cozy bed and blanket ready.

FOLLOWING DAYS

You must keep your puppy inside to rest for the first 3 days. The puppy will take the time to learn it’s new surroundings, family members and routines. Your puppy MUST eat, drink and rest! We highly suggest to wait before introducing the puppy to friends since the travel itself can be stressful, the puppy needs to fully rest! When going on the training pad, use positive reinforcement and give a treat to your puppy to congratulate the good behaviour. If the puppy does not go on the training pad, firmly say the word “NO”. Do not clean in front of the puppy and make sure to always use the same word for better comprehension.

VETERINARIAN

You want to take your puppy to the veterinarian on the third or fourth day. We HIGHLY suggest to do your research on the VET and CLINIC before choosing them. Ask questions first. Do they have experience with tiny puppies? They need to have the UPMOST DILIGENCE with vaccines and medication dosage with tinies. Unnecessary testing done by inexperienced vets can be fatal to such a tiny puppy. Make sure to choose the right vet who comprehends the fragility of these puppies and has the knowledge. Our puppies are examined by a veterinarian prior to export who writes the puppy’s health certificate and the puppy’s proof of vaccination. We deworm all puppies before sending them and we always recommend that you give another dewormer to your puppy on the third day post arrival. Let your vet tell you how much your puppy needs based on its weight. We also highly suggest any puppy parent to get a Pet Insurance, ask your vet about them!

PUPPY PROOF YOUR HOUSE

  • Keep small objects that are choking hazards out of reach.

  • Keep the floors clean and remove anything that could harm the puppy.

  • Research online if your plants could be poisonous to your puppy, move them in an unreachable place if that’s the case.

  • Always supervise when your puppy is being held by a child or someone inexperienced, they can hurt it seriously if they don’t know how to probably grab it.

  • Keep windows and doors closed at all times

  • When outside, ALWAYS have your puppy on a leach. They’re so small and can run away without you noticing. Watch out for predators like big birds or bigger dogs.

Congrats! You now have all the necessities to provide a good life to your puppy. We wish you all the best. Contact us anytime for any further help/information.

Kind Regards,

Kushina.
